Yes.

"In the blink of an eye". "My life flashed before me". These are phrases that are very commonly used, their meaning seemingly understood by all. Every country has their general equivalence of these simple sayings. Somewhere in Antarctica, a seal just said to his little buddy that his life flashed before his eyes making a dangerous swim for the catch of the day. THAT'S how common they are.

I am 26 years old and I get it now. Like, I just got it. My boyfriend of almost seven years, Mr. Alexander is asking my the only question I have been waiting for since last Christmas...The first time I thought he was going to ask it. I think it only took about five seconds to respond, but I cannot be sure, everything got cloudy and our relationship flashed before my eyes.

When we met, he was definitely not yet Mr. Alexander. He was twenty, lanky, funny, beautifully flawed, and directionless. I mean, we only started dating after a single conversation we shared at a costume party in which neither of us dressed up. I let it slip that I thought he was good looking, and he acted very cool, a little distant. We dated right after that. It was a roller coaster. I worked and dappled in college. He dappled in work. I wanted to go places, he wanted to go home. Did I imagine that in six years I would be desperate to marry him? Not in the slightest. This was not who I imagined myself with for the rest of my life. Then he became my best friend, someone whom I could not live without. Now, I never had to.

"Yes". I said to him, kneeling before me.
